# Request size

## Request size
Two limits apply to every bulk write; whichever you reach first counts:
- **Rows:** at most 100,000 per request.
- **Bytes:** the request body may be at most **200 MiB**
(209,715,200 bytes). A larger body is refused with
`413 PAYLOAD_TOO_LARGE` before anything is read or queued — split it
into several requests.

Rows differ a lot in size. A plain article is well under 1 KB; one with
translations and ETIM features is typically 10–20 KB. The byte limit is
a ceiling, not a target: requests close to it take long to upload and
validate and can fail with `503` while the server is under load. For
articles with translations, batches of up to **5,000 rows** (roughly
50–100 MB) have proven reliable. Send compact JSON — indentation and
line breaks count towards the limit.
