Setup in Salesforce
The setup takes a Salesforce administrator about half an hour. The steps are also listed on the Salesforce page in Mercura.
- Create an integration user. Under Setup → Users, create a dedicated user for Mercura, ideally with the "Salesforce Integration" licence, the "Minimum Access – API Only Integrations" profile and the "Salesforce API Integration" permission set licence. This licence covers every permission below. Give the user API access and the permissions from the table below through a permission set.
- Create an External Client App. Under Setup → External Client App Manager → New External Client App: name it e.g. "Mercura", enable OAuth, enter any valid callback URL (it is not used), select the OAuth scope "Manage user data via APIs (api)" and tick "Enable Client Credentials Flow". Mercura needs no other scope.
- Set the Run-As user. In the app's policies (Policies → OAuth Policies), enable the client credentials flow and set the integration user from step 1 as the Run-As user.
- Add fields where wanted. For the data flows you use, add to the object as needed a checkbox as send flag (e.g. "Send to Mercura"), a URL field as link field (e.g. "Mercura link") and a text or picklist field for the Mercura status. All three are optional; you can also pick existing fields.
- Copy the consumer key and secret from the app's settings under OAuth Settings → Consumer Key and Secret. Enter both in Mercura yourself; please do not send them by e-mail.
